‘O Father, Where Art Thou’ is a celebration of our Roots both in Music and Family. A celebration of Fathers past and present and how they have shaped our lives with a Roots music tribute through the sounds of Rhythm & Blues, Country and Rockabilly and all that creates the foundation of music as we now know. Two of Melbourne’s finest come together in this one-off special event. The Rechords who will take you on a journey with original tracks and obscure early covers incorporating traditional Country, Rockabilly, 60’s Vocal groups and occasional ‘pop’ vibes, a straight-up trio sans drums but with powerful harmonies that will warm you up for the Rhythm & Blues twang of Benny & the Flyby Niters beating out the whaling sax and killer guitar licks of the dirtiest of early R&B. Benny & the Flybyniters have been a stalwart of the Melbourne roots music scene since 1999. From humble beginnings playing local bars and pubs, to tours and Festivals in the USA and Europe, the Flybyniters have made their mark. Backing the likes of Lazy Lester, Big Jay McNeely, Ska/Bluebeat great Owen Gray, to name few, Benny & the Flybyniters have always been the go to band in Australia for your Rhythm & Blues fix.

Well….we did say we had some exciting last minute news! We’re excited and honoured to be included in this years BOOGIE FESTIVAL @ the Farm in Tallarook, Victoria presented by Love Police. It’s the final year for Boogie at the Tallarook Farm so it’s a privilege to be included in the lineup. We’ll be performing on Sunday 9th April on the Main Stage at 10pm for a 45 minute set of Rechords goodness.

The Gem has been a staple for The Rechords since the beginning of their performing history. It helped put the band on the map with possibly over 100 shows and most of those were over a two year residency from 2010. We’re going to do our best to relive the fun we always had at this legendary venue and we hope to see our Gem family this weekend.

Winter is coming…..hold on….Winter is here now, well it’s cold at least. So take the chill off and warm up to the craziness that is all too well known by many who have experienced a Rechords gig. The Gem has always been a special venue to perform for us since we’ve been performing there since 2010 so it’s like our second home. We’re kicking off earlier for this show from 4pm so get on down early folks, grab your favourite Gem feed and settle in for some fine tunes from the lads and best of all, it’s always FREE.

Well, finally live music is crawling its way out of the ashes and we’re bringing our Americana back to the stage of the Post Office Hotel and Dining Room in Coburg. Looking forward to gracing the beautiful room in the front bar and performing for the folks in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne. Kicking off two sets from 5pm through till 7pm. FREE ENTRY and the food is fabulous, come early and grab some dinner.

Transporting ourselves back to Fed Square in the CBD for another cracker of a Sunday afternoon/evening at the Transport Hotel. The best place to enjoy the Autumn sunshine, your favourite beverage even a warm meal whilst soaking up the hot hillbilly-esque sounds from Felix, Leo and Tyron. We head back to our home away from home….The Gem Bar in good ol Collingwood. The Rechords head west….west to Footscray and perform their first show at the newly run Hotel Westwood (formerly known as the Reverence). Kicking off at 7:30pm with 2 sets through till 9:30pm, come early and enjoy some fine old Country tunes being spun by none other than RRRfm’s TWANG host, Denise Hyland form 4pm in the Beergarden.

Like so many other bands it’s been a tough year, our last live show was back in March this year half way through our Residency at The Gem Bar. We were celebrating 10 years since the release of our first album, ‘ON THE WAGON’ way back in 2010 but like so many of us life has changed slightly over the last year. But thankfully some normality is coming back to our lives and the Transport Bar is supporting the return to ‘live music’, we are happy to say that ‘WE’RE BACK!’

To a nod back to that time we’ve used a promotional photo shot by the talented Brooke Orchard Photography that was the cover of the ‘On The Wagon’ album. The lads are looking forward to performing in front of the crowds again (albeit a smaller seated affair) and blowing out the cobwebs on some of our old favourites, there might even be a new track who knows.

Well since we’ve all been confined worldwide and musicians have not been able to perform at our regular venues to crowds, many have resorted to going live online in various formats. So we’ve had the fortunate opportunity to team up with some very tech-savvy Filmographers and spurred on by one of the bands family members who did the ground work to find the venue and the people to make this happen (thanks Lee) to create this one-off special event.

So…..without further ado, we present THE RECHORDS back again after a short performance hiatus performing a One Hour (approx.) Live Streaming event direct from the illustrious surrounds of the Moreland City Band Room in Brunswick East, Victoria Australia. This event which will kick off at 8pm on Sunday evening is almost a carry over from our Saddle Up Sundays residency we were performing at our favourite venue The Gem Bar, that was cut short during the month of March this year. We’ll be performing a whole set of our own original tunes and maybe the odd request and definitely one of our favourite covers. We’ll do our best to entertain our viewers, friends, fans with the same passion and enthusiasm we put into our regular Live shows and if you feel inspired, we’ll have our PayPal Tip Jar link displayed for any $$$ value you might like to throw our way to help us cover the costs of putting this event together.
